The tragedy of our day is the climate of fear in which we live, and fear breeds repression. When the weapons of mass destruction thing turned out to be not true, I expected the American people to rise up. Ha! They didn't. And now, it's been discovered the executive branch has been conducting massive, illegal, domestic surveillance on its own citizens. You and me. Torture, warrantless search and seizure, illegal wiretappings, I object to government abusing its power to squash the constitutional freedoms of its citizenry. And what I'm most sick and tired of is how every time somebody disagrees with how the government is running things, he or she is labeled unAmerican. We take our orders from the evening news Paper dolls with political views Find religion on the radio The more you listen, the more you know Sell the lie in a new pop song No one questions as they sing along Keep the pigs happy in the shit Pick a side and bend the truth to fit It's far easier to fight for principles, than to live up to them. The grass is green and the skies are blue And they're saying grace in the heart of America Your mind's wiped clean when they come for you And they lie to your face when you live in America We are the tools of the government Tiny pawns, we are all for rent Here to hail the dictator in chief Freedom fighters and world police Put the blame on the generals When politicians act like criminals Arm the troops, then tie their hands Plausible denial to retain command.
