What you would've noticed with your open mind 
is that your wrists are bleeding 
and your tongue is tied. 
Do you remember we were all the only infants, 
and we would stand them back to back 
against the elements? 
But you grew strong and left 
us there to join the big game, 
where you learned 
lies that made the hurts of old seem so tame. 
Back in those days 
we had respect for all the innocence 
and we never dreamed of drowning in all the 
selfish decadence. 
But you had a change of heart 
that robbed you of your compassion 
and left you choices 
that controlled your every action.
